Ellen ap Williams MEREDITH was born about 1836 in Toronto, Canada.2 She died on 25 March 1924, at age ~88, in St. Mary’s Home, Wantage.3
Ellen [ap] Williams Meredith was one of the first members of the North London Deaconesses’ Institution at 50 Burton Crescent, King’s Cross, London after its establishment in 1861. She was ordained as a deaconess in 1863 but later resigned her licence and joined the Community of St. Mary the Virgin in Wantage, where she was enumerated in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.
Note: The date of death given in the book “The Beginning of Women's Ministry…..” is in error and relates to a different Ellen Williams Meredith, a widow, who died in 1922 in Wales.4,2,5

Their 4th son Claud Humphrey Meredith WALDOCK (1904-1981) was a jurist and international lawyer. In 1834 he married Ethel Beatrice WILLIAMS, daughter of James Herbert Williams, shipowner of the Black Diamond Line, of Wellington, New Zealand. They had a son and a daughter.2

Biography

Thomas HICKS was born about 1752. He and -?- were married. He and Mary PAYNE were married on 25 March 1805 in Enborne, Berkshire.2 He died on 6 October 1817, at age ~65, in Enborne, Cope Hall, Berkshire. He was buried in 1817 in Newbury Parish Church, Berkshire.
Thomas’s Will of 5 Feb 1814 describes him as Thomas Hicks of Skinners Green in the parish of Enborne Berkshire Gentleman. It is not known whether he continued the stonemason’s business of his father John. The identity of the mother of his daughter Sarah Westall Meredith nee Hicks is not known.
