     John STRONG was born in 1836.¹ He was christened on 6 November 1836 in Rosenallis Parish, Co. Laois, Ireland.¹ He married Martha MATTHEWS on 21 November 1867 in Coolbanagher Church; witnesses John T Mathews and Thomas Mathews.² He died on 16 February 1900 in Mountmellick, Queen’s County, Ireland.³

John Strong was recorded in the Tithe Applotment Book of 1823 at Shanbeg, Co. Laois, Ireland, with a lease of 13.5 acres at a rent charge of £0 13s 6d. It seems likely that John was the father of William Strong, although this is unproven.¹

She was enumerated in the 1911 census as a Cook in the household of Maud Villiers-Stuart at Blenahouree, Cappoquin, Waterford. Although not identified as such in the census, this is likely to have been Dromana House, the seat of the Villiers-Stuarts.^3,4

She was enumerated with her daughter Margaret (aged 24), son John (aged 22), son James (aged 20), daughter Lizzie (aged 18), daughter Catherine (aged 16) and a visitor James Barrer (aged 3). The house was described as 2nd class, having walls of stone, brick or concrete, a roof of slate, iron or tiles, with 5 or 6 rooms, and 4 windows in front. 5 rooms were occupied. It had 9 outbuildings.¹

She was enumerated in the 1911 census in the household of George Waddell at The Quays, Athlone, Westmeath, and described as Margaret Waddell, wife, aged 67, born in Limerick, married for 48 years, and having had 13 children with 8 still living.^4,5

     James McKEE was born circa 1830 in Co. Londonderry.¹ He married Catherine MORRISON, daughter of George MORRISON, on 23 July 1857 in Turlough Presbyterian Church, Turlough, Co Mayo, Ireland; witnesses Charles Tighe and Mary Tighe.¹ He died on 24 March 1915 in Castlebar; informant Mary A. McKee.²
     
James McKee was living Balla, Co Mayo, Ireland at the time of his marriage in 1857; he was a Constable. There is no direct evidence that he was related to Eliza McKee who married Robert French.¹

Wilhelmina Metcalfe, the wife of George Peter Burrows Vanston, was a sister of Elizabeth Metcalf, wife of Henry Meredith. Their daughter Anna Vanston was enumerated with Henry Meredith in the 1911 Irish census and described as his niece.

     James Maurice VANSTON married Sarah Elizabeth TURPIN, daughter of Peter TURPIN and Anne MAURICE.¹ He died on 1 March 1884.¹

     Sarah Elizabeth TURPIN was born on 22 August 1812.¹ She married James Maurice VANSTON, son of John VANSTON and Rose MAURICE.¹ She died in December 1891 at age 79.¹
