Tipperary”. She was enumerated with her son George Henry (aged 12) and two others (Thomas Jackson and Edward John Young). The house was described as 1st class, having walls of stone, brick or concrete, a roof of slate, iron or tiles, with 7, 8 or 9 rooms and 6 windows in front. 9 rooms were occupied.^3,2,5

Limerick, Ireland; witnesses James Nagle and John Wallace. He left his mark against his name in the register indicating that he couldn't write.¹ She died after January 1910.

He was recorded in the 1901 census as the head of household in Dock Street, Athlone, and described as George Waddell, aged 70, Presbyterian, labourer, born in Scotland. Enumerated in the same household were his son Charles (aged 15) and daughter Margaret (aged 13). He was recorded in the 1911 census as head of household at The Quays, Athlone, and described as George Waddell, aged 80, retired farmer. Enumerated in the same household were his wife Margaret (aged 67), daughter Margaret Victoria (aged 23), grandchild Maude Winters (aged 10) and two boarders.^4,1,2,5

     Elizabeth MAHER married William Andrew WINTERS, son of Andrew WINTERS and Mary JENKINS, on 24 May 1892 in Roman Catholic Chapel, Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland; the witnesses were Robert Maddock and Elziabeth Waldron. The profession of both groom and bride was described as 'business.²' She died after October 1934.¹

He married Eliza GODSELL on 7 July 1852 in Cullen, Tipperary.⁴ He died on 24 August 1909 at age 76.⁵ He was buried on 26 August 1909 in St John’s Church of Ireland, Coolbanagher.⁵
     
Peter was a schoolmaster, and the son of John Keegan, a Scripture Reader. He was enumerated in the 1901 census at Windgate, Delgany, Co. Wicklow, and described as a school master, aged 68. Enumerated in the same household were his wife Eliza (aged 67), daughter Margaret A. (44) and granddaughters Eva (18) and Alice (6). There is some doubt about his county of birth; according to the 1901 census it was Co. Cavan and not Co. Donegal.^1,6,7

She was recorded in the 1911 census as the head of household at Cappancur, King’s County, Ireland, and was described as Elizabeth Strong, Irish Church, can read & write, aged 56, farmer, widow, married for 14 years, 8 children all still living, born Queen’s County. Enumerated in the same household were her sons James and Joseph, daughter-in-law May and granddaughter Elizabeth May.^4,5,6,7

The house was described as2nd class, having walls of stone, brick or concrete, a roof of thatch or wood, with 5 or 6 rooms, and 2 windows in front. 5 rooms were occupied. It had 9 outbuildings. The landholder was Eliza Strong. An Elizabeth Strong was also landholder for a property enumerated on the same page, occupied by Thomas Egan.

The Valuation Office records show that Elizabeth Strong was the occupier of the Shanbeg farm from 1901 until 1907, when the lease passed to an Edward Goodwin.^2,3
