John Barrer began his service with the Royal Irish Constabulary on 8 December 1879. He was transferred to Co. Galway WR, Ireland, on 25 June 1880. He was discharged from the Royal Irish Constabulary on 17 May 1892 after 12 years service.

He was murdered by robbers in 1922.^2,3

It seems likely that Edward Meredith died young, as descendants of his father have no recollection of an Edward Meredith, son of Samuel.

     Jane MEREDITH was born on 21 June 1839 in Co. Laois, Ireland.¹ She was christened on 29 December 1839 in Stradbally, Co. Laois, Ireland.²
     
Her date of death is unknown, but she is not the Jane Merideth whose death aged 25 was registered in 1865 in Mountmellick district (vol. 18 p. 380). That Jane is the daughter of Thomas Meredith and Rebecca Pattison of Cappagh.

     Joseph Henry STRONG was born on 8 September 1881 in Shanbeg, Co. Laois, Ireland.¹ He was christened on 4 December 1881.¹ He married Catherine May BAGNALL in 1925 in Birr Registration District.² He died on 16 August 1951 in Colehill at age 69.³ He was buried in St Mary’s Church of Ireland Cemetery, Geashill, Cty Offaly.³

He is possibly the Joseph Strong whose death was registered in 1951 aged 70, (Registration district Dublin South, Q3 vol. 2 p. 316).^4,5,6

Rose Winters appeared on the census of 4 April 1901 in the household of Andrew Winters in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which she was described as Rose Winters, boarder, Church Ireland, able to read & write, aged 16, a scholar, not married, born in Co Limerick.

It is unclear how she was related to that household.¹

     Thomas BARRER was born on 20 June 1810.¹ He was christened on 15 July 1810.² He married Elizabeth AIREY before 1835.³ He married Honora MALONEY between 1846 and 1852.⁴ He died on 4 August 1889 at age 79.⁵ He was buried in Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, Illinois, USA.⁶
     
Thomas Barrer was recorded as a farmer of Ballysimon on the baptismal records of George 1843 and William 1844, and as a herdsman of Rossbrien on the baptismal record of James 1846. Nothing more is known about these 3 children, who appeared not to have emigrated with Thomas and perhaps died young. He emigrated circa 1850 to USA; it is assumed that he emigrated at the same time as his sons Henry and Thomas.

He appeared on the census of 11 July 1870 in Wataga, Knox Co., Illinois, USA, in which he was described as Thomas Barrer, a white male aged 55, a Farmer, a US citizen born in Ireland, with real estate valued at $500 and personal possessions valued $300. He was enumerated with Hanora (wife aged 30), Mary A. (daughter aged 17), Robert (son aged 12), Catherine (daughter aged 8), Joseph (son aged 7) and Michael (son aged 1).

He appeared on the census of 3 June 1880 in Copley, Knox Co., Illinois, USA, in which he was described as Thomas Barrer, a white male aged 70, a farmer, born in Ireland, with both parents born in Ireland. He was enumerated with Hanora (wife aged 40), Robert (son aged 21), Catharine (daughter aged 17), Joseph (son aged 15) and Michael (son aged 10).^7,8,9

     Elizabeth WINTERS was born on 25 March 1843 in Particles Parish, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ She was christened on 9 April 1843 in Particles Parish, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     Susan WINTER was born circa 1807. She was christened on 15 November 1807 in Kilfinnane Church Of Ireland. She married Ambrose BISHOP on 2 February 1837 in Kilflyn Church of Ireland, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     Ambrose BISHOP was born circa 1815 in near Ballyorgan, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ He married Susan WINTER, daughter of John WINTER and ?- (-), on 2 February 1837 in Kilflyn Church of Ireland, Co. Limerick, Ireland.² He died on 28 December 1886 in Brooke Township, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.¹

The only record of Thomas is in the baptismal entry for his daughter Anne. It is assumed that he is the son of the John Winter b. bef. 1744 on the basis of consistency in dates and location, although there is no documentary evidence for this relationship.

     Anne WINTER was born circa 1810. She was christened on 13 May 1810 in Kilflyn Parish Church, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     John WINTER was born before 1790. He married ?- (-) before 1807. He died in 1813 in Toor; Toor is a townland adjacent to Sunville Upper and Fanningstown.¹ He was buried on 6 November 1813 in Kilfinane Church of Ireland; described as 'John Winter junior of Tour' in burial entry.¹
