His obituary in The Times states: "Mr. William Geale Wybrants, formerly Registrar to the Irish Court of Appeal, died on Thursday in Dublin. Mr. Geale Wybrants was educated at Dublin University, where he graduated in 1845. He was a skilled musician and lover of literature, and held for many years a prominent place in the social and philanthropic life of Dublin. He enjoyed the high esteem of the Irish Bench and Bar during his long tenure of office in the Court of Appeal" Together with Captain Phipson, who married his sister in law Georgina, he assumed the name and arms of Wybrants by Royal License on 16 Mar 1877.

Williams Bulkeley, M.P. for Anglesey, who assumed the latter name in 1827 on inheriting the property of Viscount Bulkeley. He married a daughter of the late Piers Geale, of Dublin (who survives him), a sister of the Dowager Countess of Fortescue. The courteous manner and kind disposition of Captain Williams had rendered him much beloved by those with whom he came into contact, and his death will be a source of regret to a numerous circle of friends."
